Tożsamość młodych Polaków mieszkających na pograniczu polsko-czeskim

Abstract

What is focused on in the search for the mechanisms of constructing young people’s identity is the role and significance of the socio-cultural environment and formal and non-formal intercultural education, which supports individuals in the unceasing creation of their own Self, in understanding the world and organizing positive intercultural relations. In the theoretical framework of the undertaken considerations, the following concepts are referred to: J. Kozielecki’s concept of the multidimensional human, J. Nikitorowicz’s concept of constantly created identity, T. Lewowicki’s theory of identity behaviours, and M. Sobecki’s concept of identification profiles. The assumption is made that shaping the multidimensional identity of the young first of all requires cultural rooting, educational activities and the support of educational policy. Against the background of the research conducted systematically for 25 years among the youth from the Polish-Czech borderland, the dynamics is shown of shaping the young generation’s feeling of identity. Moreover, the intensity of identifications is diagnosed as well as young people’sidentification profiles, which provide information on interrelations between particularidentification dimensions in declarations of a person.
