A few weeks ago, we published the last article planned in Volume 9 of Advances in Nonlinear Analysis (ANA). The journal was founded in 2011 by Vicenţiu D. Rădulescu and Marco Squassina. The first issue of ANA was published in February 2012.
The Journal was created in order to promote high-level research in nonlinear analysis. ANA publishes papers dealing with calculus of variations and PDEs, variational and topological methods for ODEs and PDEs, non-smooth analysis and optimization, generalized differentiability, set-valued functions, bifurcation theory, convex analysis, or variational inequalities. ANA is read by researchers around the world, and it has become a widely used journal of the mathematics journals published by De Gruyter.
Volume 10 of the Journal is an excellent opportunity to look at what we have achieved so far. It was a period of hard work of authors, reviewers, editors, and members of the Editorial Board that made possible the higher and higher visibility of ANA. That is why I would like to express to all of them my gratitude for this devoted work and strong support.
The first volume of ANA had 381 pages and contained 15 papers. Volumes 2-6 (published in 2013–2017) had a comparable number of pages, namely 441 (in 2013), 367 (in 2014), 325 (in 2015), 405 (in 2016), and 459 pages (in 2017). All these volumes are composed of four issues excepting Volume 3 (2014), which includes an additional special issue. Because of a large backlog, the journal was increased to 599 pages in 2018 (Volume 7). In these first seven years, all articles were published free of charge. Beginning with the year 2019, we have asked for an article processing charge (APC) of 1000 EUR, in order to support the development of the journal in the long run. We offer a favorable waiver policy, in order to attract contributions from researchers and teams with limited or no funding. Also, in accordance with the higher and higher visibility of the nonlinear analysis, the number of published papers has increased in the last two years. More precisely, ANA published 66 papers in Volume 8 (2019) and 81 papers in Volume 9 (2020).
We are proud that the Journal grew more and more during this period. The last ranking published by Clarivate Analytics in June 2019 classified Advances in Nonlinear Analysis on the second place both in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics with IF = 6.636. All the scores of ANA are very good, for instance its Cite Score published in 2019 is 5.03. We thank all the contributors and editors for making possible these achievements.
In the last decades, there has been a great development of the pure and applied nonlinear analysis. Why? The answer is simple: “because our world is nonlinear”. A great effort has been devoted to try to follow this development and to provide readers with a window through which to realize the progress achieved. This has been a challenge to the journal. We believe that by maintaining high standards and underlining the great value of transparency in research, we are going in the right direction.
