Abstract: Use of the Classroom Response System (CRS) device called "Clicker" is wide spread among universities in the United States and is now considered an essential tool for teaching. The clicker is introduced for the teaching of a physics class in Hokkaido University, which was its first use in Japan. We will explain the function of the clicker and consider the reason why it is widely used in teaching in the US. We also report the effect on the teaching in the physics class in Hokkaido University.
