Abstract: [Objective]The research aimed to study study the separation of proanthocyanidins by macroporous resin HP- 20.[Method]The starting material 1 g of procyanidin was dissolved in a small amount of 60% ethanol, the concentrated solution was added to adsorption column in a constant speed. Ethanol concentration of 20%,40%,60%,80%,100% was selected respectively in gradient eluting by macroporous resin HP-20,and the quality, purity, and polymerization degree of all parts of the samples were analyzed.[Result]Each parts of the samples were labeled F20、F40、F60、F80、F100,the quality of five parts was 0.24,0.19,0.17,0.27 and 0.02 g separately. In the five parts, the highest purity was F40,and its purity is 82. 65%,the lowest purity was F100,its purity was 65.11%. The recovery rate of Proanthocyandins elution was 89%. Analysis of the average polymerization degree of proanthocyanidins in the concentrations of ethanol eluate found that the 10%- 40% ethanol eluate contained mainly OPC,40%- 100% ethanol eluate contained mainly PPC.[Conclusion]The study provides the theoretical basis for the next study for separation of polymeric proanthocyanidins from cinnamon.
