Abstract: Three main technologies of sensible heat thermal energy storage(TES) for solar thermal power were introduced: single fluid media TES, direct contact TES and indirect contact TES. Mineral Oil, molten salt and vapor are the three main choices for single fluid media. Direct contact TES, using inexpensive materials as the storage filler material, can greatly save the cost. Indirect contact TES makes it possible for the installation of modulus, which further overcomes the drawbacks of direct contact TES, facilitates the development of TES technology.
