Abstract

PURPOSE: The objective of the study was to determine the association of body mass index (BMI) to the diagnosis of asthma.

METHODS: We did a consecutive case analysis of 20 patients diagnosed with asthma on clinical bases but none of them fit the criteria of having FEV1/FVC ratio less than 70%. Data collected included demographic information, co morbid condition, smoking history and body mass index. Calculated Body Mass Index was as follows: BMI 18.5 –24.9 was NL (n= 2), BMI 25.0 –29.9 was
