Types and Evolution of the Present Pronunciation of Ancient Initial Consonant Groups of jing,zhi,zhuang and zhang in the Gan Dialect of Southwest AnhuiChinese Full Text

Abstract: The present pronunciation of ancient initial consonant groups of jing( 精),zhi( 知),zhuang( 庄) and zhang( 章) in the Gan dialect of southwest Anhui can be divided into four types: the type of Erlang of Susong,the type of Meicheng of Qianshan,the merger type,the type of Dingxiang of Shitai. The type of Erlang of Susong is the oldest; the type of Meicheng of Qianshan has changed from the type of Erlang of Susong; the merger type has evolved from the type of Meicheng of Qianshan; the type of Dingxiang of Shitai has changed from the merger type.
