Rho-Kinase Activation in Leukocytes Plays a Pivotal Role in Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

Rho kinase is activated in peripheral blood cells after 30-min ischemia and 12-h reperfusion (I/R).

The mRNA expression of Rho kinase 1 (A) and 2 (B) in leukocytes 12 h after I/R was determined by quantitative RT-PCR. Expression levels of MYPT-1 and phosphorylated MYPT-1 were determined by immunoblotting (C). Results of the quantitative analysis of phosphorylated MYPT-1 are shown (D).
