Ascorbic Acid Enhances the Accumulation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Roots of Tall Fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.)
Figure 6
Relationship between EPHE and Eenzyme for (a) POD and (b) PPO.
EPHE and Eenzyme are the inhibition efficiencies of ascorbic acid on phenanthrene degradation and enzyme activities in plant roots, respectively. EPHE was calculated as: EPHE (%) = (CPHE-AA–CPHE-c)/CPHE-c×100%, where CPHE-c and CPHE-AA represent the phenanthrene concentrations in plant roots grown without and with AA, respectively. Eenzyme was calculated as: Eenzyme = (Uc–UAA)/Uc×100%, where UAA and Uc represent the enzyme activities in plant roots grown in the presence and absence of AA, respectively. Error bars represent standard deviations (SD).
