Identification of LZAP as a New Candidate Tumor Suppressor in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Figure 1

The expression of LZAP mRNA and protein in the human primary HCC surgical specimens and HCC cell lines, as evaluated by real-time quantitative PCR and western blotting.

(A) The relative mRNA expression of LZAP was lower in 57 HCC tumor tissues than in matched adjacent non-tumorous tissues (p<0.01). (B) The LZAP mRNA expression in human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines was down-regulated in the HepG2, Hep3B, Huh7, Bel7402 and sk-Hep1 cells, particularly in the HepG2 and sk-Hep1cells, compared with the normal liver cell line LO2. (C) The LZAP protein expression was lower in the tumor tissues than in matched adjacent non-tumorous tissues (p<0.01). (D) The LZAP protein levels were significantly lower in the HepG2 and sk-Hep1 cells than in the normal liver cell line LO2.
