Effects of MTA and GIC on the Proliferation and Differentiation of MG-63 CellsChinese Full Text

Abstract: Objective: To compare the effects of mineral trioxide aggregate(MTA),glass ionomer cement(GIC) on the proliferation and differentiation of MG-63 cells.Methods: The leaching liquor of MTA and GIC of three different concentrations(40mg/ml,20mg/ml,10mg/ml) were prepared.Then MG-63 cells were incubated in condition medium(DMEM)containing various concentrations of the leaching liquor of MTA and GIC,while cells remained in condition medium(DMEM) were served as control.Over 72 hour-period,the proliferation and differentiation of MG-63 cells were evaluated.Results: The optical density(OD) values of each subgroup of MTA were all higher than control group.There was statistically significant difference between three subgroups of MTA and control group(P<0.05).The OD values of each subgroups of GIC were all lower than control group,There was statistically significant difference in three subgroups of GIC and control group(P<0.05).As to ALP activity,the OD values of each subgroup of MTA were all higher than the control group,statistically significant differences were found within the control group,20mg/ml and 40mg/ml subgroup(P<0.05).The OD values of each subgroups of GIC were all lower than control group,statistically significant difference was found between 40mg/ml subgroup and control group(P<0.05).Conclusion: MTA can stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of MG-63 cells.
