Risk analysis of peptic ulcer in an occupational populationChinese Full Text

Abstract: Objective to explore the role of etiology fraction and interaction of risk factors in the development of peptic ulcer in an occupational population,in order to provide evidence for disease prevention.Methods 9463 workers were sampled randomly from the whole working population in this firm,and 363 diagnosed cases of peptic ulcer and 400 controls were investigated by case-control study.Using self-designed questionnaires,we conducted interviews by face to face interview.After the age stratification,the independent risk factors of peptic ulcer were analyzed.Results the results showed that male,smoking,dust espousing,drinking and preferring hard foods were independent risk factors of peptic ulcer(OR=1.411~2.485,P<0.05).EFs of the risk factors were 0.421,0.318,0.243,0.188 and 0.093,respectively.The interaction index of male with smoking,male with drinking,smoking with preferring hard foods and male with preferring hard foods were 0.313,0.186,0.063 and 0.015.Conclusions male,smoking,dust espousing,drinking and preferring hard foods were independent risk factors of peptic ulcer in occupational population.But there is no interaction effect between two risk factors.
