Abstract: The decline of U.S. economic power has again been a hot topic in the world since the2008 financial crisis. From the perspective of American economic history,this paper first analyzes a pair of concepts which are economic power and economic hegemony,then works on the historical development of American economic power,and finally moves onto its present situation. This paper concludes that American economic power will continue to grow,because the essential components of America economic power,including technological innovation,population scale,educational system and legal system,have not changed fundamentally.
