Abstract

We demonstrate ultrafast optical control of surface plasmon assisted terahertz (THz) transmission in a subwavelength metallic hole array on a semiconductor substrate. The transient photoconductivity of the substrate allows modulation of the THz resonance amplitude via optical excitation with a time scale of ~10 ps.
