Abstract: To establish a method for the determination of 2,4-diaminotoluene in food plastic packaging materials by capillary electrophoresis with UV detection. 2,4-Diaminotoluene in samples was soaked out with boiling water and the water was removed through rotary vacuum evaporation,the residue was re-dissolved in running buffer solution and finally analyzed by capillary electrophoresis. 25 mmol / L borax buffer( pH 9. 2) was used as the running buffer and an uncoated fused-silica-capillary( 75μm × 50cm,40 cm to detector) was used as the separation column. The separation voltage was 10 kV,the gravity injection time was 7 s,the separation temperature was 25℃,and the detection wavelength was 215 nm. The migration time was used as qualitative index and peak area standard curve was used for quantification. In the range of 0. 1 10 μg / mL,the correlation coefficient of the method was 0. 9999. The detection limit of the method was 0. 058 μg / mL( S / N = 3),with the minimum detectable content of 0. 019 mg / kg. The recoveries of the method were 82. 9% 99. 6% and the relative standard deviations were 2. 2% 6. 9%. The method was applied to the determination of 2,4-diaminotoluene in 17 food plastic packaging materials and 11 samples were detected with the contents ranging from 0. 088 mg / kg to 1. 07 mg / kg.
