Éloge de la Créolité distinguishes itself from such transcultural manifestos as Pour une littérature-monde by asserting a regionally specific notion of identity. This paper suggests that the transmission of memory through haunting in Marie-Célie Agnant's novel Le livre d'Emma (2001) allows for an expression of Créolité/Creoleness, as expressed by the authors of the Éloge, to take place in transcultural contexts. In the novel, the simultaneous cohabitation of past and present mediated through the ghost offers a framework for considering the impact of Créolité on authors who seek to engage with more transcultural contexts, beyond the regional specificity of the Caribbean.
