Abstract: This paper analyzes the effect of foreign trade on China’s carbon dioxide emissions. It is found that although the carbon intensity has declined to a certain extent, the size of the carbon dioxide emissions is up warding because the scale of exports is continuing to expand. From the structural view, product of resource-based industry has high carbon intensity,so the scale of carbon emissions is increasing.Because of the increase of export scale,it leads to a higher increasing rate of carbon emissions, which makes the emission proportion of mechanical and electrical products,as well as textiles and apparel products, have a smaller share of emissions. In response to "carbon tariff" and enhancing the international competitiveness, the government should actively adjust the export structure.
