Abstract: The project of the personnel with equivalent educational qualifications applying for master’s degrees has been formally launched in China in 1991,paving a way for working staff to apply for master’s degrees through their studies in spare time.This paper,in principle,is aiming at giving an overall description of this project conducted in UIBE.There are five stages in the process of the personnel with equivalent educational qualifications applying for master’s degrees,namely courses studies,examinations,qualification review,thesis writing and defense and degree conferring.Owing to our graduate courses matching the social needs and lectured by competent teaching staff,the classes of graduate courses held by UIBE maintain a good reputation and a high degree of recognition for a long time,which bring us excellent sources of applicants.The examination pass rate,therefore,keeps up over 30% in the national unified examination,and reaches as high as 40% in the English examination.So far,we have granted 2756 students with equivalent educational qualifications master’s degrees.And all of these students and their employers make the same comments that their comprehensive quality,creation capability,business performance and foreign language level have been greatly improved.The end of this paper focuses on the existing problems in and solutions of the project,making profound considerations in order to better promote the project of the personnel with equivalent educational qualifications applying for master’s degrees.
