Application of multi-loop edgewise arch wire in straight wire arch technique for skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusionChinese Full Text

Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of multi-loop edgewise arch wire technique on skeletal classⅢ malocclusion. Methods Nine patients with skeletal classⅢ malocclusion in permanent dentition received multi-loop edgewise arch wire in straight wire arch technique.Anterior crossbite was resolved,and class I molar and canine relationship was established.Cephalometric X-ray film was taken and studied before and after treatment.The model was established and analyzed before and after the treatment.Results UI-LI,FH-MP,OP-MP,FMIA,OB,OJ,OP-MP and the distance between the UL-SnPgand LL-SnPgincreased,and LI-NB,IMPA and LI-MP decreased after treatment in comparison with those before treatment(P<0.01).There were no significant differences in FMA,APDI,PG-NB,Yaxis,ODI, SNA and SNB after treatment compared with those before treatment(P>0.05).No obvious change occurred on jaws. Conclusions Multi-loop edgewise arch wire combined with straight wire arch technique is an effective method for skeletal classⅢ malocclusion.
