Abstract: Objective—To understand the current situation of the development of folk sports game in the public physical education(PE)classes at colleges and universities.Methods—Various methods such as literature research,questionnaires,interviews,data statistics are employed;300questionnaires are distributed to 300students entering Baoji University of Arts and Sciences in 2012and 2013who participate in public PE,all the questionnaires are collected and 293copies of the questionnaires are effective,the effective rate is 97.7%.Results—The folk sports games that are introduced to the public PE classes at our university are as follows:trolley pushing,cockfighting,kicking the shuttlecock,rope skipping,playing sandbags,rubber band skipping,hawk-and-chickens,plaster applying,cops and robbers,numbers game,Seine,sheep herding,tug-of-war,train race,wrist wrestling,three-legged race,leapfrog,grouping game,etc.Generally speaking,boys like the games related to physical strength,while girls enjoy agile and dexterous games.Conclusion—University students love folk sports games very much,and they hope to try more in PE class.
