Abstract: Hyperelasticity of rubber waterstop material in gates plays a decisive role in numerical analysis. The mechanical behaviors of a vulcanized rubber were studied here with a uniaxial tensile test,a biaxial tensile one and pure shear one. Some nominal stress-strain curves for different strain rates were obtained. A systematic comtrast and analysis for general rubber constitutive models were performed. In the cases of complete experimental data and incomplete experimental data, the optimal constitutive models for rubber waterstop material were derived. With the finite element calculation for waterstop around the bottom outlet of a certain high dam,the different waterstop stress-relaxation times were obtained by adopting different viscoelastic constitutive models. Compared with the real situation. Burgers constitutive model was recommended to be used. The study results provided a reference for waterstop material design and fabrication.
