Abstract: Anthracyclines antibiotics have been a preferred clinical drug,attributable to their ability to exhibit good effectiveness in the treatment of a number of cancers,such as acute nonlymphocytic leukemia,malignant lymphoma,sarcoma and breast cancer.Streptomyces peucetius is the best important species synthesizing anthracycline antibiotics(daunorubicin,doxorubicin,4’-pei-doxorubicin,4’-pei-daunorubicin,carminomycin,13-deoxocarminomycin,etc.).Studies on the biosynthesis and pathway engineering of bioactive products by S.peucetius has been a hot point at home and abroad.The research advances on the biosynthesis of anthracyclines antibiotics by S.peucetius were summarized,and the development trend was also pointed out in this paper.
