Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture at Baihui（GV20） and Dazhui（GV14） in preventing post-traumatic stress disorder（PTSD） in patients undergone major trauma. Method Sixty-eight subjects were randomized into an electroacupuncture group and a Western medication group to receive a 2-month intervention. The Essen Trauma Inventory（ETI） and Symptom Check List（SCL-90） were used for evaluation before and after intervention, as well as 3 months and 6 months after the intervention. Result The inner-group comparisons showed significant differences in comparing the results of before and after intervention, 3 months and 6 months after the intervention（P＜0.05）; generally speaking, the inter-group comparisons didn’t show significant differences（P＞0.05）, but the acupuncture group was better than the Western medication group in comparing the physical and depression scores（P＜0.05）. Conclusion The effect of electroacupuncture at Baihui（GV20） and Dazhui（GV14） in preventing PTSD is similar to that of medication, and the electroacupuncture group has few adverse effects and content compliance.
