Abstract: This research analyzed the winter- spring top soils of Mongolia and the northern foot of Yinshan Mountain in upwind of Hohhot and the sandstorm dustfall and nonsandstorm dustfall of Hohhot through determining K2 O,CaO,Na2 O,MgO,Al2O3,SiO2,Fe2O3,Mn,Cu,Pb,As,Ti and other chemical compositions by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. It was found that the percent of conventional oxide composition is 81% in addition to non sandstorm dustfall sample, the conventional oxide composition of other three kinds of samples are between 83% and 84%,though the total amount difference is not big,but the difference of the specific components is obvious. Calculating and analysis of the relationship between surface soil of Mongolia and the northern foot of Yinshan Mountain and the sandstorm dustfall of Hohhot by the enrichment coefficient method, the discriminated function method, the silica alumina ration and other methods draw the following conclusions: the chemical compositions of sandstorm dustfall in Hohhot are more closely related to the topsoil of the northern foot of Yinshan Mountain, and the deposited elements mainly come from natural sources. The topsoil of the northern foot of Yinshan Mountain is the main sandstorm dust sources for Hohhot, and the contribution of semi- fixed dunes in Mongolia to the sandstorm dust sources for Hohhot is not so obvious.
