Abstract: A novel 1D chain supramolecular copper coordination polymer has been designed and synthesized based on the coordination ability of nicotinic acid. The crystal structure of the compound was determined by X-ray diffraction method. The results revealed that it belongs to triclinic system,space group P-1 with a = 8. 400( 5) ,b = 14.093( 5) ,c =18.257( 5); α =93.517( 5) °,β = 97.787( 5) °,γ = 98.029( 5) °; Z =2,V= 2113. 3( 16) 3,Dc= 1. 484 mg /m3,F( 000) =984,R1 =0.0546,wR2 =0.1711. The complex shows a 1D chain in the packing structure through hydrogen bonding.
