Abstract: To solve the problem that the intrinsically safe power supply is of low capacity with great ripple voltage and low output power, in addition, the power supply in underground coal mine is of fluctuant, and of poor quality and discontinuous, based on TL494, a reasonable PWM modulation strategy was designed. The over current and over power double protection circuit were developed and a large capacity intrinsically safe switching power supply was invented. It has been shown by the laboratory performance tests that with the ripple voltage of 200 mV, together with the output voltage of 85~265 V and output power of 18 W, the intrinsically safe power supply can run very stably.
