Abstract: Ultra-fine grained commercial purity aluminum was produced by severe cold rolling and annealing.Microstructural characteristics and microhardness of ultra-fine grained commercial purity aluminum were investigated by means of transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and Vickers hardness test under cold rolling and cryo-rolling,respectively,and annealing.Fine grain strengthening effect of the cryo-rolled and annealed commercial purity aluminum with 0.5 μm ultra-fine grains is superior to that of the room temperature rolled and annealed with 1 μm ultra-fine grains.Rolling at liquid nitrogen temperature results in higher hardness than at room temperature under the same condition. When annealed below 200 ℃,hardness changes slightly, while annealed above 200 ℃,ultra-fine grained commercial purity aluminum structure actually is recrystallized rather than recovered and its hardness decreases rapidly, and then tends to be stable value.
