Abstract: The jet characteristics of air-mist nozzles used in secondary cooling zone of continuous casting were studied. The droplet diameter, impact velocity and Sauter mean diameter(SMD)distribution of air-mist jet were achieved. The Sauter mean diameter of droplet was 125-155 μm. The relationships between the Sauter mean diameter of droplet and the jet Weber number, Reynolds number, dimensionless jet distance were also studied.
