Abstract: Quantitative relationship between cementite network and carbon segregation in the wire rods and billets was investigated and the effects of continuous casting parameters on the carbon segregation of billet were analyzed. The results show that the cementite network forms if the carbon segregation index of wire rod is higher than 1.20 and is substandard if the carbon segregation index of billet is higher than 1.16.It is effective to reduce the carbon segregation of billet by lowing superheat temperature, casting speed and increasing secondary cooling water. The carbon segregation index of the billet reduced from 1.13 to 1.08 and the unqualified rate for substandard cementite network reduced from 2.0% to 0.8% after process adjustment.
