Abstract: Wastewater from an ABS gelatinous drying section was pretreated by the iron-carbon micro-electrolysis system, and the effects of different influent pH on the pollution removal efficiency were studied. In order to research the electrochemical action of the iron-carbon micro-electrolysis system for the degradation and transformation of toxic refractory organic pollutants, two control experiments of activated carbon and sponge iron were set up.The results show that the iron-carbon micro-electrolysis system can decompose and transform the toxic refractory organic pollutants effectively, and increase the ρ(BOD5) /ρ(CODCr) ratio from 0.32 to above 0.60,which significantly increases the biodegradability of the ABS resin wastewater. There was little effect on the removal efficiency of micro-electrolysis by different influent pH.Under the premise of high treatment efficiency for the iron-carbon micro-electrolysis system, the best influent pH was between 4 and 6 so as to decrease the consumption rate of scrap iron, increase the life of the iron-carbon micro-electrolysis system and reduce the running cost.
