Effect of Electroacupuncture on Interleukin-6 Expression in Hippocampus of Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion RatsChinese Full Text

Abstract: Background:The realtion between IL-6 and injury suffered from infarction of the brain has been studied for several years,but most of that are IL-6 level in blood from clinical study,there are several studies about IL-6 in central nervous system after ischemia of the brain.Objective:To observe the change of IL-6 in hippocampus after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion and the effect of electroacupuncture on IL-6 in hippocampus after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion,and to explore the way of elctroaunpcture therapy protecting the injured neuron.Methods:A total of 15 Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham-operation(sham),model and EA groups,and five rats in each group.CI/R model was established by right middle cerebral artery occlusion for 2 h and reperfusion for 24 h.EA(3Hz,1-3mA) was applied to Baihui(GV 20) and Dazhui(GV 14),for 30 min.To observe the neurology deficit score which was evaluated by the Julio’s neuroethology score methods in all rats,and to observe the expression of interleukin-6 in hippocampus by immunohistochemical method.Results:(1)The neurology deficit score:compared with the sham group,the scores of model group and EA group were decreased with significance(P<0.01);while compared with the model group,the score of EA group was increased significantly(P<0.01).(2) The expression of IL-6:compared with the sham group,the mean light-density of IL-6 in the model group was decreased with significance(P<0.01);the mean light-density of IL-6 in the EA group was increased with significance(P<0.05);while compared with the model group,the mean light-density of IL-6 was increased significantly(P<0.01)in EA group.Conclusion:The neurology deficit score indicates that EA has protective effect.Maybe IL-6 has the protective action after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion,and the EA can protect the neuron by promoting the expression of IL-6 in hippocampus of cerebral schemia-reperfusion rats.
