Abstract: AIM To investigate the association between Connexin 37（Cx37） gene polymorphism and coronary heart disease（CHD） in population of Shaanxi Han nationality.METHODS Samples of peripheral blood white cells were extracted from 150 patients with CHD,aged 61±10,and from 117 controls without cardiovascular diseases,aged 60±8.The subjects under study were all of Chinese Han nationality.The Cx 37 polymorphism was determined by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism（PCR-RFLP）.RESULTS The frequency of the Cx37 gene T allele（0.25 vs（0.21）） was higher in the CHD group than that in the controls,but the frequencies of three genotypes were not significantly different in both groups.In the male group,the frequency of the Cx37 gene T allele（（0.254） vs 0.243） was higher in the CHD group than that in the controls,but the frequencies of three genotypes were not significantly different in both groups.CONCLUSION The polymorphism of Cx37 gene is present in population of Shaanxi Han nationality and there is no association between the polymorphism of Cx37 gene and CHD.
