Abstract: AIM:In order to research the effect of transplantation of homologous adult cardiomyocytes on protecting heart function after myocardial infarction(MI).METHODS:After labeled with BrdU,cultured adult rabbit cardiomyocytes were implanted into the infarction site of rabbits myocardiums via direct injection. The myocardial infarction model was established by ligating the left anterior descending artery. All groups heart function and ventricular remodeling were measured by echocardiography, and the heart slices were processed for histological(H-E)and immunohistological techniques and photographed. RESULTS: In cell-transplanted group heart functions were improved and left ventricular(LV) remoldings were inhibited.Transplanted cells labeled with BrdU were observed by microscope. In addition that implanted cells connected with each other by intercellular junctions. CONCLUSION: Transplanted cells can live in the MI sections and improve heart functions.
