Efficacy of carvedilol compared with metoprolol in stable anginaChinese Full Text

Abstract: AIM:To evaluate the clinical effect of different β blockades in patients of stable angina（SA）. METHODS: SA patients were randomly divided into two groups, one is the treatment goup（ n =80） which was treated with carvedilol, the other is the control group（ n =76） which was treated with metoprolol, and the clinical effective treatment, the rate pressure product （RPP） were observed after treated six weeks. RESULTS: ① The clinical effectiveness of the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group （92% vs 80% P ＜0.05）.②RPP of the treatment group was significantly decreased than that before treated （1491±225） kPa·min -1 vs （1232±211） kPa·min -1 （ P ＜0.05）, But it was no significant difference in the control group（1500±270） kPa·min -1 vs （1499±115） kPa·min -1 （ P ＞0.05）. ③The cardiovascular episodes of the treatment group were significantly decreased than that of the control group（ P ＜0.05）. CONCLUSION: The clinical effect of carvedilol was much better than that of metoprilol.
