Abstract: AIM:To evaluate the cardiac function of nuclear submarine sailors after long sailing. METHODS:49 nuclear submarine sailors were examined by echocardiography. The parameters that were related to the systolic and diastolic cardiac function respectively from LV diameters and index of the atrial ventricular plane displacement were measured with HP1000 computed sonography.RESULTS:EDV and SV were significantly increased (108±16 vs 98±15, P <0.01;69±10 vs 63±10, P <0.01) after long sailing of nuclear submarine. The A index was enlarged (0.64±0 12 vs 0.56±0.11, P <0.01) and T index was significantly reduced (1.34±0.23 vs 1.49±0.24, P <0.01).CONCLUSION:The diastolic dysfunction and normal systolic function of nuclear submarine sailors ware found after sailing for thirty one days in this study.
