Analysis of heart rate variability in elderly patients with essential hypertension and coronary heart diseaseChinese Full Text

Abstract: AIM:To study autonomic nerve regulator character in elderly patients with essential hypertension （EH） and coronary heart disease （CHD）. METHODS:The heart rate variability （HRV） in 59 EH,54 CHD,38 EH+CHD patients and 34 healthy elderly subjects were investigated. RESULTS:Except the SDNN Index of EH there were significant difference between HRV in the patients with EH,CHD and healthy elderly subjects（ P ＜0.05）, There were much significant difference bwtween HRV in the patients with EH+CHD and healthy elderly subjects（ P ＜0.01）,but no significant difference between HRV in the patients with EH and CHD （ P ＞0.05）. CONCLUSON:The autonomic never function of EH and CHD patients are damaged,and the EH+CHD patients is the most. The vagal hypoactivity and sympathetic hyperactivity were major causes of reduction of HRV in the elderly patients.
