Therapeutic effects of extracts from allium macrostemon on atherosclerosis by color Doppler ultrasoundChinese Full Text

Abstract: AIM:To observe the therapeufic effect of the extracts from Allium Macrostem on atherosclerosis. METHODS:100 patients with coronary artery disease or hypertension were selected as study subjects. The patients took the extracts for one and half a year in succession. During this period,the peripheral artery of the patients were checked by high resolution ultrasound once half a year and chemical examination of serum lipid once three months. RESULTS:The thickness of atherosclerosis plaque decreased and the level of serum cholesterol and triglyceride declined obviously. COUNCLUSION:Using the extract of allium Macrostemon regularly and over a long peroid of time could control the progression of atherosclerosis.
