Abstract: The purpose of this paper was tO study nocturnal ventricular arrhythmia(NVA) and sudden death by ventricular late potential(VLP)in 46 patients with sleep apnea syndrome(SAS). The results showed that the positive rate of SAS was 65%(39/46) and 15 cases with NVA and 3 cases with nocturnal sudden death were found Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed a close association between SAS and sinus bradycardia and sinus tachycardia.A significant difference was observed in the positive rate of VLP and the incidence of NVA as compared with that of controls. These findings suggested that VLP was a useful tool in predicting NVA and sudden death in patients with SAS.
