Abstract

The physical model of transfer processes in the near-wall region of the turbulent separated and reattached flows is proposed. It is based on the assumption of the governing role of the induced local pressure gradient that it takes place in the immediate vicinity of the wall in separated flow. The flow in the near-wall zone is subjected to intense instantaneous accelerations induced by large-scale vortex flow structures. Similarity laws for mean velocity and temperature and spectral characteristics of the transfer processes and the well-known empirical heat transfer correlation for turbulent separated flows as well are obtained. The laws obtained are confirmed by the available experimental data. The results obtained were employed for generalization of data on heat transfer in tube banks in cross flow and as a base for a physical model of heat transfer in packed beds.
