ABSTRACT: Rhubarb is a widely used Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which has been extensively applied in the clinical treatment of ischemic stroke. However, the underlying mechanism of clinical administrating Rhubarb on ischemic stroke is not clear. In this study, by using the molecular docking, virtual screening of the active molecules of Rhubarb was performed. We obtained a group of compounds from Rhubarb, and identified 21 targets that are related to the mechanism of cerebral ischemia. The results show that a number of components have good binding activity after docking with the above targets. The action mechanism of Rhubarb is most probably due to the active compounds target at multiple proteins in the biological network. This study not only made a contribution to a better understanding of the mechanisms of Rhubarb on the treatment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury, but also proposed a strategy to develop novel TCM candidates at a network pharmacology level.
