ABSTRACT

The vibration exposure limits are based on specific relationships between the duration of exposure and the magnitude of vibration defined under the International Standardization Organization (ISO, 2001a; ISO, 2001b). The daily exposure to vibrations can be expressed in terms of the equivalent acceleration transmitting the same energy over a reference period of 8 h (average working day). Therefore we have A(8) (m/s2 RMS) (Palmer, et al., 2015). For hand-transmitted vibration, action and exposure limit values are specified. The Exposure Action Value (EAV); 2,5 m/s2 A(8), represents the daily amount of exposure above which employers must act in order to control exposure. The Exposure Limit Value-ELV; 5 m/s2 A(8), represents the maximum amount to which a worker can be exposed during a one day period (Reynolds, 2006; Rimell, et al., 2008; Palmer, et al., 2015).
