ABSTRACT

The exposure to toxic heavy metals (HMs), organic, and inorganic pollutants has created tremendous health risks and environmental menace due to their non-degradable and noxious nature. The phytoextraction, phytosequestration, and phytovolatization have gained popularity because of their effectiveness in reclaiming agroecosystems. Phytoremediation uses green plants that degrade, stabilize, absorb, or accumulate the toxins. Rhizoremediation can clean the environment by enhancing the ability of plant to combat toxins/ HMs pollution by efficient synchronic mechanisms among the plants and microbes present in the soil. Both these processes act as natural and sustainable strategies to combat the consequences of degradation without any use of synthetic chemicals.
