ABSTRACT

Since last few decades, it has been seen that the steel industries are changing significantly. The level of competition has risen considerably. Customers are concerned with product quality, delivery time, and price. As a result, organizations should implement a value system to continuously progress and raise both quality and productivity. The goal of this research is to see the improvement in production performance of steel industry through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).The objective aims towards better productivity and quality improvement. To validate the efficacy of the suggested methodology, a case study on a manufacturing unit is explored and shows significant improvement through production efficiency of equipment. After implementing TPM pillars in this industry, it seems quite promising in satisfying the goal of achieving productivity and quality. The findings show that maintenance is not an extra cost for the company; rather it is a way to increase the productivity. The better the maintenance, the better will be the quality of the product. The method is aimed at justifying TPM implementation in Indian industry as a means of supporting competitive production.
