ABSTRACT

The outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) virus, namely, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which was declared as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 11 March 2020, has created a disastrous situation throughout the world. The spreading rate of COVID-19 is exponentially increasing each day like a rapid-fire with globally more than 157 million confirmed cases as on 7 May 2021. This study aims to identify the various related studies for the prevention of COVID-19 and also the importance of automated systems to prevent the cause of this pandemic. The review of literature is carried out from the research papers available till now on COVID-19 from various databases, viz., PubMed, Wiley, and Elsevier, and also from the chapters, media reports, posters, videos, and websites. Besides, a detailed review of this infectious virus concerning available automated systems is also accomplished. Based on the literature and the current situation, a proposed general framework is designed for a contactless automated system using the Internet of Things (IoT), sensors, and artificial intelligence (AI). After studying the literature from various genuine sources on COVID-19, we concluded that this virus can be prevented by using contactless automated systems.
