ABSTRACT

Malnutrition can be divided into the following three categories according to types:protein-deficient malnutrition, protein-calorie deficiency malnutrition, and mixed malnutrition. Protein-deficient malnutrition is seen in patients who are in good nutritional status before illness but suffer from a sudden serious illness. The imbalance between supply and demand causes malnutrition in Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) patients. Malnutrition in patients with COVID-19 will affect ventilation, respiratory muscle structure and function, and the body’s immune response. Nutrition risk screening begins with the patient’s medical history, such as weight loss and food intake. Anthropometric indicators, fat-free mass (FFM), fat mass (FM), degree of weight loss, and whether there are other causes of anorexia, biochemical indicators are some of the commonly used nutritional status evaluation indicators. Creatinine–Height Index (CHI) varies with the protein intake level and can be used to monitor the body’s nutritional status as long as the daily intake of protein is stable.
