ABSTRACT

Biofouling in aquaculture cages has been an important issue for the farmers since its management incurs a huge sum of money and labor. Antifouling strategies failed due to the diversity of organisms are different from region to region and increased concern about pollution in the water bodies. The chapter describes the strategies to combat biofouling using nanomaterials coated over a polyaniline coated polyethylene and its efficiency towards antifouling. Green synthesis of nanomaterial incorporated hydrogel and mixed charged polymeric hydrogel over polyethylene aquaculture cage nets against biofouling also described. Brief description of environmental impact assessment of nanomaterials treated nets in the marine environments included at the end.
