ABSTRACT

Applications that involve wireless communications are highly prone to security risks. Majority of the applications now go wireless involving the Internet of Things (IoT) as a technology to communicate to their respective destination. IoT is considered as a future of the internet. IoT is envisioned to grow rapidly in the forthcoming years due to the proliferation of communication technology, the availability and usage of the devices, services, applications, and computational systems. This chapter discusses the three-layer architecture involving hardware communication protocols and a layer of services and applications. Also, the security, integrity and hardware issues, challenges, threats, risks, and solutions involving the deployment of efficient privacy, control, authentication, and integration methods to confront various malicious and a series of cyber-attacks are proposed.
