ABSTRACT

Micro-algae represents an exceptionally diverse and highly specialized group of microorganisms adapted to various ecological habitats. It has been exploited by humankind as a promising source of food, feed, biofuel, and important biochemicals. Microalgae are microscopic photosynthetic cell factories having a high surface area to volume ratios. Microalgae are larger in size and it also is known as macroalgae where microscopic algae are smaller in size and known as microalgae. The major chemical components of microalgae are carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. An environmental technology from the USA started worked on the improving of wastewater with the help of microalgae and the subsequent fermentation of the resulting biomass to methane. Phenylpropanoids function as effective antioxidants due to their ability to donate hydrogen from hydroxyl groups positioned along the aromatic ring to terminate free radical oxidation of lipids and other biomolecules.
