ABSTRACT

Comparative studies of some rare earth activated phosphors for magnetic resonance, medical imaging and drug delivery are reported here. Rare earth doped oxide and fluorides based nano-phosphors have been successfully prepared for different synthesis methods and its comparative studies are described in this chapter. Some characterization techniques are also compared for nano phosphor such as morphological studies for uniform nanoparticles (NPs). These nanoparticles emitted bright colors with multiple ranges are described by upconversion luminescence technique. It has been reported that NPs are very useful for Magnetic Resonance (MR), imaging, drug delivery host carriers and drug storage/release properties. Some models are described in detail for Upconversion behavior of NPs which are used for MR/fluorescent imaging and therapeutic applications.
