Today holography is used to take images of a wide spectrum of different objects. At present digital detectors are used to record the holograms. Then the reconstruction of the object is done with a computer. Here the chirp-z-transform is introduced to get a more flexible and simple reconstruction process. First the common digital reconstruction process is described. After that the chirp-z-transform will be presented. We show that the chirp-z-transform can be denoted as an adaptive Fourier transform. Different applications of the chirp-z-transform for digital holography are shown. A discussion of the calculation time is also included.
